Tara has been working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist since 2013. She graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Class 2A Honours.
Tara always knew that she wanted to work within the area of paediatrics, as she always enjoyed the fun, simple moments (such as high fives) that you regularly experience when working with children. Tara has said that seeing a smile light up on a child’s face when they have learned something new or successfully accomplished a skill – these are the moments that increased her passion to work within this area!
Tara has worked across various clinical settings from private practice, school settings, home and clinic based environments. She has worked with a range of children, adolescents and young adults with varying skills and abilities. Tara’s friendly and caring personality helps her to build rapport quickly with both children and families, a connection that she values very highly. She is an accredited and registered Occupational Therapist.
Tara has been involved in research through honours degree and her journal article was published in the Australian Occupational Therapy Journal in February, 2019. “Pre-discharge home visits: A qualitative exploration of the experience of occupational therapists and multidisciplinary stakeholders”.
During 2018, Tara and her partner, Gavin, travelled around Australia crossing five states (Victoria, Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales) and completed over 35,000 km’s in their 4WD.
In her free time, Tara enjoys going to the beach, camping and looking after her cheeky golden retriever puppy called Finn.
